Abstract

Nurses may decide to undertake a research study if they find there is no existing research indicating the clinical effectiveness of a particular intervention. The nurse should consult an appropriate individual in their organization for advice on whether the proposed research topic is reasonable, whether it fits the aims of the organization and whether support will be available. The research will involve the collection, analysis and interpretation of data, and the presentation of findings together with a proposed methodology for implementation in clinical practice.
