Abstract

Research was conducted to examine nuclear 3,,5,3'-triodothyronine (T3) binding capacity and the pattern of TR mRNA expression in the rodent heart and skeletal muscles of different fiber type as a function of the thyroid state. The possible existence of differential regulation of TR mRNA expression by T3 in the different types of striated muscle was also examined. Results indicate that divergent patterns of TR mRNA expression in various muscle types go through similar qualitative changes under altered thyroid state.
