Abstract

Studies show that the three (Me3[9]aneN3)MoIIIX3 complexes phosphoresce and undergo photooxidation in solution at room temperature. C(NO2)4 was also found to promote the permanent one-electron photooxidation of (Me3[9]aneN3)MoIIIBr3 and (Me3[9]aneN3)MoIIII3. In the presence of water, disproportionation of photogenerated MoIV intermediates promotes the two-electron oxidation of the complexes.
