Potential autocrine and paracrine mechanisms of recovery from mechanical injury of renal tubular epithelial cells

Research shows that acidic and basic fibroblastic growth factors and platelet-derived growth factors migrate into the media of damaged renal tubular epithelial cells and may be directly involved in the injury recovery process. Experiments designed to demonstrate the existence of these biochemical factors in media of renal vascular smooth muscle cells are described.
