Abstract
- A study was conducted to study the fate of residual lignin during the delignification of kraft pulp by the fungus Trametes versicolor. CO2 trap contents were prepared with scintillation vials and were determined using a Beckman model LS6800 liquid scintillation counter. Kappa values were obtained using the micro kappa method while cellulase treatment was scaled down to a liquid volume of 40 ml. Results showed that the incubation of T. versicolor increased the amounts of 14C and ultraviolet absorbing materials that could be extracted from the pulps.
