Abstract

Asian companies are increasingly turning to securitization as they seek to raise money. This approach is attracting interest from investors, but investors are still exercising considerable caution. They are willing to invest in well-managed banks with strong brand names, for example, but are much less willing to invest in construction companies and large infrastructure schemes. Many observers believe that the growth in securitization will spark off the creation of a bond market in Asia.
