Abstract

The dry weight (DW), carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) components of four species of caprellid amphipods inhabiting Sargassum yezoense were examined. Collected from the Otsuchi Bay in northeastern Japan, the Caprella danilevskii, C. subinermis, C. penantis and C. verrucosa were kept in laboratory aquariums with running sea water and sorted within 24 hours after collection. Results showed that males have a greater pereonite II length, higher DW, C and N contents in all four species. Regressions of female pereonite II length in DW, C and N significantly varied from males in all four species.
