Abstract

A rep-rated multibeam KrF laser driver design is described for the 500 kJ Inert Fusion test Facility (FTF) and its optical pulse shaping capabilities are modeled by using the ORESTES laser kinetics code. A front-end pulse shaping method is proposed that has combined an optical Kerr gate with continuous wave (cw) 248 nm light and a 1 [micro]m control beam shaped by advanced fiber optic technology.
