Abstract
- The synthesis and magnetic properties of four new (Cu-Ni)2 tetranuclear complexes of general formula (Cu(oxpn)Ni(mu-NCS)(H2O)(aa))2(X)2 (oxpn = N, N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)oxamide; aa = bidentate amine; X = CIO4- or PF6-) are presented. The antiferromagnetic coupling was given by the oxpn ligand while the ferromagnetic coupling was given by the thiocyanate anion. Using X-ray crystallography, the structures of three of these complexes were proven to be tetranuclear. Results indicate that in the new tetranuclear complexes, the antiferromagnetic coupling through the oxamidato bridge is dominant.
