Links between research findings and the future of assertive community treatment: a commentary

Researches on the assertive community treatment (ACT) approach to mental health service revealed several concerns that must be addressed to expand ACT. The issues include costs, policy context, outcomes measurement, quality monitoring, duration of care, intensity of service and eligibility criteria. Further investigations may facilitate the expansion of ACT and the success of the programs of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill if the contextual factors related to research results are resolved.
