Free-radical reactions of trailkylboranes with beta-nitrostyrenes to generate alkenes

Research was conducted to examine the free-radical reactions of trialkylboranes with beta-nitrostyrenes under a nitrogen atmosphere to generate alkenes. The method used was NO2/alkyl substitution since the reaction was stimulated by the presence of a trace of oxygen in the nitrogen or tert-butyl peroxide or by photolysis and was inhibited or retarded by the addition of galvinoxyl to the solution.
