Abstract

Research was conducted to examine the concept, origins and reasons of counterrotation of the g or % tensor and to delineate the conditions for co- and counterrotation. Results indicate that counterrotation is the only possibility for the (d(sub xz))4, (d(sub xy))1 configuration and that it is also more common for the (d(sub xy))2(d(sub yz))3 electron configuration. An investigation into the possibilities of nonlinear co- and counterrotation was also conducted.
