Abstract
- We present an inexpensive, reusable method of introducing optical fibers into ultrahigh vacuum systems. A Teflon ferrule with a center-drilled hole slightly larger than the fiber diameter replaces the metal ferrules of a standard Swagelok connector. The Swagelok connector when tightened compresses the Teflon to form a vacuum seal for pressures of [less than or equal to]2 x [10.sup.-10] Torr.
