Abstract

Electric engineers must understand the output current of dc/dc converters, because if impedance limits the outout current then the circuit will destroy itself and other components in time. There are several ways to sense and limit the current, such as FET switches, transformers and constant-current and foldback limiting.<br />If components' impedance is all that limits a dc/dc converter's output current, the circuit is a time bomb--waiting to destroy not only itself, but also other parts of your system.
