Abstract

The golf industry is the latest challenge for Canadian chartered accountants, providing a new business environment where they can exercise their skills. Accountants who have bought interest in or have bought their own country clubs, are stretching their managerial and financial planning skills to turn around the golf club business back into profitability. The golf industry's decline in previous years has been attributed to the exclusivity of these clubs, which slowly decreased membership that is the primary source of revenue. Many of the accountants are finding new revenue sources from country clubs and from flexible membership schemes to improve club facilities and services.
