Abstract
- Peptide deformylase is reported as a novel mononuclear iron protein, although it was previously reported as a zinc metalloenzyme, containing one Znsuper2+ ion per polypeptide chain. It is thought that a different enzyme isoform and/or a metal ion, other than zinc, could be responsible for the higher activity observed in the enzyme.
