Gating system design to cast thin wall ductile iron plates

The development of a horizontal and a vertical mold designed to produce thin ductile iron plates is described. The aim of the design is to produce sound ductile iron plates that are large enough to create tensile test samples. An optimized design was also developed through the use of mathematical modeling.
