Abstract
- A study was performed to determine heart responses of JCR/LA-corpulent rats (JCR-LA-cp) to an interval of ischemic insult. JCR/LA-cp rat is a distinguished genetic animal strain with similar characteristics of the type II diabetes in humans. It was believed that JCR-LA-cp hearts have improper regulation of intracellular calcium concentration. Results of the study showed enhanced sensitivity of murine hearts to ischemia-reperfusion injury as the rats grew older. The significance of results was correlated to the type of diabetes to be considered in myocardial dysfunction.
