Abstract

A new design method for reducing drag through the design of natural laminar flow (NLF) airfoils is presented. The method uses proven computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, combined with a new target pressure design method. Its main features are a compressible linear stability analysis code which calculates the N-factors and its ability to calculate a target N-factor distribution.
