Abstract
- A theory of endogenous ideology formation is described to examine for differences in state economic intervention levels and economic policy formation in a sample of former colonies. Analysis of the theory reveals the presence of an empirical relationship between state economic intervention and colonialism. However, no significant relationship is found between government intervention and structural variables included in economic policy formation such as land area, total and per capita gross domestic product and population.
