Abstract

Over 10,000 residents of Techwood public housing were displaced during the 1994 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA. Most of the residents in Techwood are African-American women and children living in conditions below the poverty level. Some residents received section 8 vouchers and some were relocated to single-family houses. These residents were told the facilities would be turned into mixed-income housing after the Olympics. However, construction projects have been postponed and the land where Techwood homes stood will be used for parking.
