Minor groove binding compounds that jump a GC base pair and bind to adjacent AT base pair sites

The article discusses the synthesis of the synthetic minor groove binding compounds that normally bind to the adjacent A/T base pair sites by jumping over the GC pair. The various benzimidazole derivatives used for the purpose are shown to exhibit the best binding and solution properties.
