Abstract

The Scottish government should be allowed to raise taxes to save jobs and services owing to budget cuts. Public spending is seen to have cushion the impact of the economic crisis on Scotland. The Scottish National Party has opposed UK chancellor Alistair Darling's proposed budget cuts.
