Abstract

A new network architecture known as the Internet Protocol Dialtone (IP Dialtone) offers Internet users with more benefits than dialup infrastructures. IP Dialtone utilizes a Digital Subscriber Line, cable modem, wireless and innovative access technologies which do not require dialup. The emergence of this new technology is expected to usher in a wide array of services for priority bandwidth, rate shaping, interactivity, reliability and privacy.<br />IP is the dominant internetworking protocol.
