Abstract

A group of teachers evaluated the use of Xemplar Pocket Book computers with pupils under the age of 11. The teachers gave introductory instruction on the Pocket Books and their applications and set project work based on visits to a botanical garden. The teachers found advantages of the Pocket Books to include ease of use, robustness, easy access to supporting databases and resistance to information loss. The Pocket Books increased pupil motivation, and the spelling and reporting aids improved the performance of less-able pupils.
