Abstract

Fe-Ni based amorphous thin films are prepared by thermal evaporation and glancing angle x-ray diffraction studies have showed that the irradiated films retain their amorphous nature. Magnetic measurements using a vibrating sample magnetometer has displayed that the coercivity of the films has increased with an increase in the ion fluence and the ability to modify the magnetic properties via swift heavy ion (SHI) irradiation is used for applications in thin film magnetism.
