Offshore drilling revisited: Congress and the Obama administration weigh the benefits and risks of expanded oil and gas production

Democrats in the U.S. Congress are reluctant to move quickly on allowing offshore drilling in federal waters while President Barack Obama said that he could accept offshore drilling if this was part of a broad package that would make the U.S. energy independent. The Department of the Interior is also delaying action on allowing exploration lease sales to gather more comments.
