U.S. budget battle begins

Republican representatives from Alabama, Sens Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions have temporarily put a stop to the appointment of the new Pentagon acquisition chief Ashton Carter. This follows differences of opinion with the Pentagon over the tanker contract for the U.S. Air Force which would have repercussions on jobs in their home state.
