Abstract: Pediatric departments can use conscious sedation outside of the operating room to assist children who are undergoing a variety of procedures. Conscious sedation is utilized to keep the child safe, reduce discomfort, and diminish mental distress. The treatment reduces patients' awareness but does not inhibit their capacity to respond to instructions or stimulation.
