Abstract
- Surface silanol groups of mosoporous materials provide good anchoring sites for grafting organic moieties or transition metal ions for chemical sensors or catalytic applications. Transition-metal-associated mesoporous materials can create reaction sites and molecular confinement. Catalytic halogenation reactions are currently undertaken with haloperoxidase enzymes, such as vanadium bromoperoxidase (V-BrPO), which catalyzes the bromination of several organic substrates.
