AC losses of AC superconducting cable due to transport current in external AC magnetic field

Measurements were conducted on the transport current-induced alternating current (AC) losses of AC superconducting cables in an AC external magnetic field. Results were compared with the AC loss data from cables with different twist pitches and directions. A theoretical model for evaluating the AC losses revealed the influence of the longitudinal magnetic field and the current density vs electric field properties.
