Abstract

A study was conducted on alternating current losses in ITER joints in a varying parallel magnetic field. Results demonstrate that joints may be designed with the same or greater temperature margin as conductors operating in the same parallel field. Design considerations for suppressing alternating current losses while avoiding increases in direct current resistance are presented.
