Abstract
- The distribution of foreign direct investment (FDI) in China shows regional disparity despite efforts of Chinese authorities to address the problem. Analysis shows that Chinese coastal areas accounted for 90% of foreign direct investment in China since 1989 as compared to investments received by inland provinces, which are less developed. China's implementation of other measures, such as FDI policy regime transparency and reduction of government bureaucracy, is highly needed in order to address the problem of regional disparity effectively.
