Abstract
- The vibrio alginolyticus polar flagellum has fast rotation using a motor driven by sodium ions. MotX and motY are genes identified in marine bacteria vibrio parahaemolyticus and v. alginolyticus, for the sodium-driven flagellar motor. Additional sodium motor genes pomA and pomB were identified in V. alginolyticus, with similarities to MotA and MotB, particularly in the transmembrane regions.
