Abstract

The effect of beta4 integrin subunit on the recruitment of human bullous pemphigoid antigen 180 (BP180) as well as the function of specific regions of human BP180 to its recruitmnet in hemidesmosomes (HD) were evaluated through cotransfection and transfection of HDs.Results revealed that beta4A and human alpha6A integrin subunits form distinct junctional structures wherein recombinant BP180 molecules are colocalized with the alpha6beta4 integrin. Furthermore, the cytoplasmic domain of BP180 contain protein sequences for HD targeting.
