Abstract

Broadband wireless is one the asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) applications being tested, especially in the Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS) spectrum range. The LMDS spectrum of 28 GHz can support broadband wireless communications which has the potential to provide ATM cell-based management and traffic prioritizing benefits at a lower cost than wireline solutions such as trenching or leasing SONET.<br />Broadband wireless is one of numerous hybrid ATM applications now being tested.
