Abstract

Diana, Pincess of Wales, died in a car accident in Paris, France, on Aug 31 1997. Her death has led to questions on the role of photographers and the future of the monarchy in the United Kingdom. Critics argue that the media had a role to play in her death, and United Kingdom laws on privacy could be strengthened as a result of it. There are allegations that photographs of the car in which she died are being offered for sale on the international market. Her son, Prince William, is second in line to succeed as king, after Prince Charles, the heir.
