Means to the goal of remembering: developmental changes in awareness of strategy use-performance relations

The positive effects of the use of strategic behaviors on children's recollection of events is examined. Children's metamemory about the relationship between strategy use and recollection is also described. Results of the experiment show that children who use strategic behaviors significantly improve their recollection of events. The results also show that metamemorial development contributes to the effective use of strategies.
