Abstract
- Alcohol beverage drinking was assessed in relation to diet and body mass index (BMI) using a cross-sectional survey. Male alcohol consumers were found to have lower body mass index than abstainers despite the similar total daily energy intakes. The differences in nutrient intakes were more significant between alcohol consumers and abstainers than between consumers of different alcoholic beverages. More antioxidants were noted in the diet of wine drinkers.
