Abstract

Many pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms are developing new drugs by applying the techniques of combinatorial chemistry, which provide a method of forming a multiplicity of compounds and then evaluating them for activity. The method involves developing libraries of molecules and determining the pharmaceutical compounds that offer the most potential for drug application. Examples are included of drug companies, such as Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research Div., which use this method.
