Abstract
- Nirex, the UK agency responsible for nuclear waste disposal, has been urged to allow independent scrutiny of its peer-review procedures to increase public understanding of and confidence in its activities. Scientists at the Radioactive Waste Management Advisory Committee, which advises the UK government on radioactive waste management, called for increased transparency and an independent assessment of the agency's research, citing a persistent perception that the review panel is not fully independent from Nirex.
