Georgia-Pacific outsources transportation activities to reduce costs, meet demand

Georgia-Pacific Corp. has outsourced its transportation operations in an effort to cut overhead and increase its productive efficiency. The company's use of third-party logistics services, dedicated contract carriers, or a combination of the two has allowed Georgia-Pacific to cut its transportation costs by up to 10% at some mills. Seven of Georgia-Pacific's mills are using an asset-based service which provides trucks, drivers, and transportation monitoring systems to take care of their transportation needs.
