Abstract

The effects of alterations in the primary structure of three alpha1-isoforms on the functional properties of cardiac-type voltage-dependent Ca2+-channel (VDCC) were analyzed during primary transcript splicing. Alternative splicing of the COOH-terminal tail of L-type VDCC (L-VDCC) alpha1 subunits did not induce statistically significant differences in the behavior of the three alpha1 isoforms of L-VDCC. However, splice variants of the COOH terminus of the alpha1-subunit exhibited differential voltage-dependency to muscle Ca2+ antagonists.
