Abstract
- The sodium-independent inward Cl pump in rat cardiac ventricular muscle was analyzed by measuring the intracellular Cl concentration with double-barreled microelectrodes. The inward pumping of Cl in rat ventricular muscle was mediated by Na-K-Cl transport and a sodium-independent process labeled as pump III. Pump III contributes to Cl accumulation in ventricular cells by regulating inward and outward Cl currents with Na-K-Cl cotransport in rat cardiac ventricular muscles.
