Abstract
- The fourth-largest nonprofit organization in Baltimore, Catholic Relief Services, has cut 70 jobs and plans to freeze salaries in 2009 in preparation for shrinking donations amid an economic downturn. CRS executive vice president for human resources Dave Piraino says that the agency is planning to reduce worker benefits to avoid layoffs in 2009. The effect of the economic downturn on CRS is examined.
