Abstract: A reversible gel-sol/sol-gel transition is described in poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) aqueous solutions triggered by the redox state of ferric ions conjugated with photoreduction and oxidation. The PAA solution is recovered to the homogeneous hydrogel by oxidating Fe(II) to Fe(III).
