Abstract
- The reinforcing effects of carbohydrates were analyzed by utilizing gastric catheter implants in rats subjected to intragastric feeding. Rats trained on intragastric infusion feeding followed by intervals of plain water infusions exhibited increased intake when fed with starch and maltodrexin solutions compared to oil infusions. Rats ingesting oil or starch suspensions also exhibited increased intake from starch suspensions compared to oil suspension.
