Abstract

Southeast Asia's volume of shrimp production by aquaculture is steadily dropping due to environmental and ecological problems, according to a World Wide Web report, 'Asian Shrimp Farms at a Crossroads.' In addition to the abuse of toxic chemicals and antibiotics, over-intensive production, destroyed mangroves and contaminated pond water have resulted in disease outbreaks.
