Cost reduction drives two-platen developments

Interplas '96, a plastics show in Birmingham, England, displayed two-platen advances in injection molding machine design. Engel showed cycle-cutting innovations in its designs. The first featured four cylinders attached to the platen, while the second used robot movements. Krauss-Maffei uses a two-platen clamping system in making injection molding machines. Husky's 28 E Series features stationary platens in the fixed rather than moving platen.
