Abstract

The Champion International Corp mill at Roanoke Rapids, NC, experienced operational problems in the precipitator in the early 1990s due to corrosion, and equipment replacement was considered the best solution. A 'turnkey' solution was adopted with new a new precipitator supplied by Environmental Elements Corp of Baltimore, MD. The project was a success with the use of tie-ins and working during regular maintenance outages.<br />Operation at champion international's mill in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., began in 1906.
